About Gold City Medical Centre

Our aim is to provide the highest quality medical care as courteously and effectively as possible. As a provider of healthcare to Charters Towers for over 30 years we pride ourselves in continually improving the range of services we offer to our community. In early 2020, Gold City Medical Centre opened the Charters Towers Respiratory Clinic with the assistance of the Commonwealth Health Department. This clinic provides a dedicated area to assess patients with respiratory symptoms. The Charters Towers Respiratory Clinic closed in February 2023. Gold City Medical Centre will continue to see patient with Respiratory Symptoms in a safe way. We encourage COVID-19 booster vaccination in 2023.

Gold City Medical Centre provides a comprehensive range of general practice health services. We treat the very young with childhood immunisation and care for common childhood illnesses. Adolescent health, women's health and men's health needs are catered for within our practice. Our doctors are all trained in doing comprehensive skin checks and the surgical treatment of skin cancers. Our procedure area allows the doctors to do a wide range of other minor operations under local anaesthesia.

The doctors together with our nurses, do health assessments and develop care plans for those with long term illnesses and chronic diseases such as diabetes. We care for those with mental healthcare needs from short term episodes of stress and anxiety to those with more long term requirements. We provide employment medicals to mining companies and other local employers.

Our town has a large elderly population. Our practice offers services specific to this group of patients including care of leg ulcers and management of complex medical conditions and medications. We provide home visits and nursing home visits to the elderly, which are arranged through our nursing staff. Our practice provides afterhours advice and care for those whose health deteriorates during the afterhours period, however, in an emergency situation always ring 000 for the ambulance to take you to hospital for immediate care.
