Gold City Medical Centre

Caring for your Health

Gold City Medical Centre has been caring for the health of the Charters Towers community for over 30 years. Most of our doctors live in our community or within the surrounding rural area.

Growing with Charters Towers

We have expanded from a one doctor practice in 1985 to an eight doctor practice with five nurses, numerous visiting allied health providers and specialists. Our purpose built surgery was designed and built in 1993 and expanded into the heritage building next door in 2013.

We provide a comprehensive range of General Practice health services from childhood immunisations and treatment of common childhood illnesses through to chronic diseases like diabetes and the care of our elderly in Charters Towers. Teaching is an important part of our General Practice philosophy and students enhance the vibrant nature of our practice.

Visit Charters Towers

The Charters Towers Visitor Information Centre provides a 7 day information and tour bookings service to visitors and locals alike. Explore the Orientation Room, speak with one of our wonderful volunteers and purchase some goodies from the Gift Shop merchandise in the Centre.

Open 7 days a week 9am - 5pm from May to September and 9:30am - 4:30pm September to May (specific dates in those months may vary) except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day morning.

Very helpful, kind and caring doctors. As a town where there is a transient workforce who pay for nothing and live high on the hog, this is why they use the medicare gap. People here have no problem going to the pubs but don't want to pay for a doctor. Doctors deserve to be highly paid, boiler makers and electricians etc charge $150 per hour, they have not spent 7 years at university. Great doctors you deserve every hard earned cent.

I would like to thank the nurse who gave me my astrazeneca jab yesterday 17th September. I honestly never felt the needle go in. My first one that I had elsewhere I actually said ouch.
